Dinner with Friends
A design-focused, quarterly lifestyle magazine celebrating California's Central Valley, one dinner party at a time.

In this weekly blog offering, DWF's founder, Kendra, speaks from the heart about her decision to leave Fresno in the midst of creating a magazine based on her love for the city and surrounding Central Valley. (Yes, it's confusing to her, too.) But above all, she's committed to continuing the magazine's mission. And instead of dwelling, as it is best not to do, she's celebrating the ways her new city reflects her hometown, and how Fresno is never really that far away.

WHERE AM I? / This blog will be brief because the countdown (insert scene from any end-of-days action movie here) has begun on the Dreamers Who Dine dinner party. As hectic as this process has been, I've loved every minute of it. And, while there are just hours left to save the world (er, finalize details for the perfect event), I'm confident that Bruce Willis is definitely going to sacrifice himself for the sake of the mission and stop the asteroid from making impact with earth. Yes, my go-to end-of-days action flick is Armageddon.

And now I'm thinking of that scene with Liv Tyler, Ben Affleck, and the animal crackers.

Ok, where was I? Oh, right. This blog is about just that. Where am I? I don't ask the question literally. It hasn't gotten to that point yet. I'm trying to drive home the point that I have been so engrossed in the dinner party planning process that for the past month or so it's felt like I was back home in Fresno. Seriously, I left work the other night and looked up to see the Space Needle, it took me a few seconds to realize that I was still in Seattle.

My face has been pressed into social media daily. I've been learning about all of our guests and the great things they're doing in the Central Valley. Most of the emails I've sent over the past few weeks have been to people in Fresno, and the majority of my incoming and outgoing phone calls are from and to numbers with a 559 area code. So you can understand my confusion.

Anyway, don't be worried. I know where I am. And I know where I'm from. And I know this party is going to awesome. Even if Bruce Willis isn't on the guest list.
