BLOG POST 42 / THE MOTHER OF ALL DINNER PARTIES

Have you heard? We’re planning the “mother” of all dinner parties. The play on words has dual meaning for us. Yes, the party we’re preparing for is all about celebrating mothers; but it’s also shaping up to be our biggest event yet.

The idea came about at the beginning of this year, as we were brainstorming new content and obsessively building out our list of dream collaborators. As we added name after name to that list, we realized that many of the people we wanted to work with were mothers working on their own businesses or creative projects in the Central Valley. So why not get as many of them together as possible and highlight their accomplishments, rather than simply working with one or two of them here and there?

While most of the women attending the upcoming dinner party are new to Dinner w/ Friends, we’ve actually worked with a couple of them before. One has written for us, another has photographed one of our features. But one of the things we like to do with this magazine is feature the same people in different ways. Someone whose words you’ve read before, will now show up at the table so you can see who she is off the page. Someone always behind the lens, will now appear in front of it! We think it’s important to show people in all of their multi-dimensional beauty. So, we’re as excited to have those women returning as guests as we are to meet all the new ladies.

But the celebration of motherhood doesn’t stop at who’s invited. We have mother/chef/nutritionist/entrepreneur Nikki Martinez whipping up a gorgeous three-course meal for the event. You might remember her from last year’s wine tasting. Rhonna Torres of Blonde and Blue photography will be capturing all the incredible moments from the dinner party. If you’ve checked out her feed, you can see why we wanted to team up with her. Gorgeous photos, tons of mamas and families, AND she’s a mother herself. In fact, she just gave birth to her second child a few months ago.

We can’t wait to share more with you as we get closer to the event. Keep checking our Instagram where we’ll introduce you to two guests each week. While we still have a lot of work to do, we cannot wait for April 27 to get here.

Eat. Slay. Love.
